Frequently Asked Questions
*Is child care provided for meetings?
Yes! Free child care for meetings is available. If you have a child age 3 or under, please email Amy Stokes (amy.stokes@hmumc.org) to reserve a space for your child in the HMUMC nursery downstairs. Please include your name, your child's name & age, the names of anyone authorized to pick your child up and anything the nursery workers need to know to care for your child. If you have a child age 4 or older, please sign them up for TLC (Teaching the Love of Christ), HMUMC's Wednesday night programming for elementary aged kids by filling out the form here. Drop off for both ages starts at 6:30 and children must be picked up by 8:30. Weekly child care reservations are not required for regular attendees.
*Does my child have to stay for the entire time?
No. Because we meet in the evenings, we understand that you may want the little ones home earlier for bedtime. You may have another adult such as a spouse or grandparent pick your child up before Time Out! is over. Please make sure that you have given permission on your child's paperwork for them to pick your child up.
*I am a nursing mother. Can I bring my child to Time Out! meetings?
Of course! All moms are welcomed to bring non-mobile babies to our meetings. We do ask that when they start moving around that you make reservations for them in the nursery.
*Where do you meet?
We meet in the modular building across from the main entrance to HMUMC/circular driveway. Enter through the doors closest to the church and we are in the first room on the right. Look for the green Time Out! sign.
*Do I have to attend every meeting?
No! We understand that as a mom you have lots going on in your life! We are doing our best to get an accurate calendar of meeting topics out to you so you can decide which meetings are applicable to you & your family.
*Do I have to participate in the book study? How much does it cost?
We are reading the book Mothers of the Bible this year. Time Out! is providing members with the book at no charge. Please indicate on your registration form if you would like to participate and we will order a book for you. If a book study is not for you, that is okay! We have book study nights on the calendar so you can choose not to come to those meetings.
*What is the cost to participate in Time Out?
At this point, we do not have any dues or membership costs associated with the group. Books for our optional book study are being provided to members at no charge.
*Why did you decide to not renew your MOPS charter? What is the difference between MOPS & Time Out! ?
Basically, it was a budget issue. We had to pay several hundred dollars to renew our MOPS charter and each mom had to pay MOPS $23.95 for MOPS International dues. We decided that we didn't necessarily need the MOPS name to continue our group and HMUMC agreed. We are still continuing with the same format as we have in the past, but are doing so at a substantial savings to our members.
*How do I sign up to receive announcements from Time Out?
We use a feedburner to send out announcements to the group. To subscribe to blog updates, simply enter your email address in the subscription box at the top right-hand corner of the blog homepage. You will then receive an email confirming that you want to receive announcements from Time Out! ; make sure to click the link in the email to activate your email subscription. You can unsubscribe at any time.
*What is on the Shutterfly website and how do I become a member?
We post our official calendar of events on the Shutterfly website as well as post photos from Time Out! events. This site is password protected for our children's safety and you must be an active member to receive access. Contact Erin Clary or Heather Korey to join the Shutterfly site.
*Do you send evites for meetings?
We do not typically send evites for every meeting because we now meet every Wednesday. When we have special events and need an accurate count of how many moms will be attending we will occasionally send an evite. We do send evites for play dates, field trips & mom's night outs.
*How do I get on the evite list?
We take our evite list from those subscribed to the blog update email list to insure that we are only contacting the people that wish to be involved with Time Out! .
*How can I get a list of members?
A directory of contact information will be emailed to active members several weeks after the year begins. We will update it throughout the year as we add new members. It will also be posted as an attachment on the password-protected Shutterfly website. Please note that all contact information is to be used for Time Out! use only. If you have a home-based business that you would like to promote, there will be a separate page in the directory for this purpose. Members with home-based businesses are encouraged to include their information in this section, but are asked to not otherwise solicit business from within the group.
