A Message from The Pantry

In 2010, The Pantry at HMUMC distributed over 39,000 pounds of food to just 306 families. This is only possible with the support of the entire congregation and we would like to extend a warm thank you to everyone that donated food or resources to The Pantry in 2010. Last week, The Pantry set a new record with 64 boxes going out the door and today we only have enough food on the shelves in the pantry for about 21 boxes. If every adult attending a Sunday church service would bring one (1) item, we would have enough food to meet the demand. Items that are currently most needed are:

· Canned meat (tuna or chicken)

· Spaghetti Sauce

· Canned pasta (ravioli, spaghetti-o’s)

· Canned fruit

· Boxed potatoes, rice or pasta

· Peanut butter and jelly


In the coming weeks we will be restructuring our volunteer force to meet the ever increasing need. If you would like to work in The Pantry or be a part of our community resource team, please contact John Boozer at john_boozer@yahoo.com or 678-591-3889.

This Week's Meeting Topic

We will be having game night this week during our meeting.  If you have one that you would like to share, please bring it!  Just a reminder that our meeting will be beginning at 7:00, following Oasis Family Worship.

Reminders for This Week

*Don't forget Mom's Night Out tomorrow night (Tuesday) at Erin's house.  Bring an appetizer or dessert to share and a favorite game (I have Taboo, Apples to Apples & Scattegories).  Please email Erin if you need directions!

*Our first meeting of the 2011 year will be on Wednesday from 7:00-8:15, following the Oasis family worship service in the Great Room.  We will be discussing the chapter on Leah from Mothers of the Bible, so bring your books and handouts (they can be found on the Shutterfly site @ hmumctimeout.shutterfly.com )

Wednesday Night Activities Cancelled!

Heather just received word that all Wednesday night activities at HMUMC are cancelled tomorrow night, 1/12.  Time Out, Wednesday Night Supper, Kids Choir, Oasis & all other activities will resume next week.

This snow storm is really messing up everything!  Stay warm and pray for the roads to thaw and for school to be back in session soon!

*Annual Women's Retreat January 28-30, 2011 - Unicoi State Park in Helen, GA

"Help, Lord! My Life Is Like a Game of Twister!" - Do you feel as if your life is like a Game of Twister sometimes - pulled in lots of different directions and not sure which one is the best? Join with Tamar, Rahab, Ruth, Bathsheba and Mary as they share the twists in their lives with you. They will show you how God worked through these twists and used them all in the linage of Christ. God can take twists and make them straight again! Examine the hassles, headaches and heartaches of life with humor and hope from God's word by studying about five strong women of the Bible. Sign up online or on Sundays at the reception window opposite the Great Room. The cost is $150.00, payable in monthly payments. *Books for the Women's Retreat Needed! - Please donate any unwanted Christian CD's, devotional books, journals or other books by placing them in the gray bin across from the elevators. These items will be on a table for the ladies to take home with them and enjoy!

*2011-2012 Preschool Registration - Registration for church members (who joined by September 26, 2010) is Wednesday, January 26 at 9:00am. Registration for Legacy is at 11:00am that same day. Registration for the community is Friday, January 28 at 9:00am by lottery. Tours of the preschool will be given daily at 10:00am during the month of January. *Food Pantry Needs - HMUMC helped over 300 families in December.Thank you very much for your support! As we begin 2011, the Pantry is in immediate need of the following items: Peanut Butter, Jelly, Spaghetti Sauce, Spaghetti/Pasta, and Canned Meats.

Mom's Night Out : Date Change!

Due to the winter weather, we are going to move our Mom's Night Out up one week to Tuesday, January 18th @ Erin's house!  Look for an updated evite in your inbox.  Hope to see everyone on Wednesday if the weather cooperates!
